IT-BPO Sector Enjoys Growth in Revenue, Employment

2012 proved to be a great year for the IT-BPO sector, as it boasted a 19 percent growth in revenue and a 21 percent growth in employment.

In 2012, the sector’s total revenue amounted to $13.2 billion. As for its workforce, the year brought in 137,066 more workers, making the total number of employees 776,794 people. According to IBPAP (Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines) president and chief executive officer Jose Mari Mercado, last year’s profits as well as the increase in workforce were in line with industry’s expectations, considering the sector’s 2016 targets. By that year, the information technology business process management sector (IT-BPM) expects to have 1.3 million jobs and $25 billion in revenue. […]
