  • Always focus only the essential elements

One of the best thing to do whenever you design a web page is what will put on it. Did you focus on an essential content on your site? But a huge number of the website didn’t achieve this and the main result is having a really big mess in what to put on the site. Some might not know what are important and not important to put on the website. If you want to make all of the content simplers, you should know first what is the focus of your site. This means you need to be a focus on the essential elements.

You can also use the 80-20 rule. Where the 20% of the site should give the 80% of the whole content. This rule can help you in setting simplest content for your site.

  • Get rid of the words/images/designs which are not needed

The 80-20 rule also applies in this part. If you finally identify the 20% of your site’s element that will get the 80% of your desired results. You should start to remove all elements which are not needed.

  • Reduce the pages if needed

The large part in simplifying a web design is to have a few places to explore and click. Always get rid of all the unnecessary pages. You can also do as simple as shortening the header height if you have a logo or a navigation menu on the top of your site.

  • Make content above the fold

There are a lot of people spend their time on the fold pages. Fold pages show up on the screen without scrolling down. Having the main content and the call-to-action elements above the fold can increase the effectiveness of your site. This involves the change of the header’s height value in your stylesheet.

  • Take note of your color scheme

There are some designers where they forgot all of their color schemes. Why settling down in 2 or 3 colors, why you can have more than 10. Whenever you are doubting, you can use fewer colors. It will be based on the web design of your course. Do not try sticking to 2 or 3 colors as your main start off. You can also use the shade of the same color. Example, light blue background and dark blue for header and menu items.
