The Philippine outsourcing industry, or more commonly known as business process outsourcing (BPO), will be cooperating with India’s BPO industry to find ways that will complement each other instead of competing with one another. This is according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) last September 11.

 

India and the Philippines are likely to become outsourcing partners in the future since they will be working together. “In the area of BPOs, we agreed to work on hopefully improving complementation in serving our respective clients in areas of complementation instead of competing,” Trade Secretary Ramon M. Lopez told reporters in Pasay City.

Outsourcing companies in the Philippines is considered one of  the best in the world and so is the BPO industry of India. “We can probably jointly offer out respective services. Kung san tayo magaling, san sila magaling, ‘yun ‘yung itutulak natin sa ating mga clients,” Lopez said.

The Philippine call center generates a lot of the employment opportunities both for the young and the old. With India as an outsourcing partner this hopefully generate more jobs in the industry.

India is ranked number one for European and Us outsourcing firms according to a recent survey. One of the reasons why countries choose to outsource in India is because they have the largest technical and professional talent pool in the world.  

Philippines on the other hand has been in the industry since 1992. This was when Frank Holz of the accenture group formed the first contact center here. Philippines is a prime choice mostly because Filipinos are well-versed in the english language.
